Description

We are taking orders again for our bulk beef for a quarter, half, or whole beef. The next availability is for May 2025.

 

OUR BEEF

Our beef is grass-fed and grass-finished in the pasture. In the winter months, the animals eat hay, grass silage, and as a treat, organic carrots. Grass-fed animals take longer to raise than animals on a corn-fed diet. Grass-fed beef is naturally leaner than grain-fed. Omega 3’s in beef that is fed grass is 7% of the total fat content compared to 1% in grain only fed beef. Our animals are not given any hormones or vaccines so you can rest assured that you are receiving quality meat. The main breed of our animals is a mix of Angus and Limousin. Taste the superior quality and flavour that our grass-fed beef provides!

All our beef is hung for 2 weeks before the butcher begins to cut it. After cutting and packaging, it is flash frozen to maintain maximum freshness. Orders are charged the hanging weight (as in common practice in Ontario). The take home weight is about 20-25% less due to dry aging/shrinking and trimming during the butchering process. The final price includes transport, cutting, wrapping, and freezing. All weights and prices listed below are approximate.

PAYMENT

A deposit is required on all custom beef orders after the order is confirmed with us to reserve your beef. The full payment is due at the time of pick up. We accept cash, cheque, or e-transfer. E-transfers can be sent to laepple@golden.net. Once the order is confirmed and the deposit is received, we will send you a cutting instructions sheet to fill out that we will be sending to the butcher. Please note that a deposit is considered a commitment to purchase and is non-refundable. Note that we reserve the right to change prices at any time.

TIME

Custom bulk orders are typically booked 1-2 months out. Please speak with someone in store or via email/phone for what dates we have available for your order.

PICKUP

The week that your beef is ready, you will be given a specific day and time for pick-up. Pick-up will take place at Laepple Organic Farm unless other arrangements have been made.

Quarter Beef

A quarter beef is a mixed quarter from the front and hind quarters.

Hanging Weight: 140 – 160 lbs

Take Home Weight: less 20 – 25%

Freezer Space Needed: 4-5 boxes

Cost per lb: $7.25

Deposit Amount Required: $150

Total Price Range: $1015 – $1160

Note: Does not include organs/giblets. These can be purchased separately, when available. Splitting of orders is not available. 

 

Half Beef

The half beef consists of the front and hind quarters (side split).

Hanging Weight: 280 – 320 lbs

Take Home Weight: less 20 – 25%

Freezer Space Needed: 9-10 boxes

Cost per lb: $7.10

Deposit Amount Required: $300

Total Price Range: $1988 – 2272

Note: Includes half of available organs/giblets. Splitting of orders is not available.

 

Whole Beef

Hanging Weight: 550 – 700 lbs

Take Home Weight: less 20 – 25%

Freezer Space Needed: 18-20 boxes

Cost per lb: $6.95

Deposit Amount Required: $500

Total Price Range: $3822 – 4865

Note: Includes all available organs/giblets. Splitting order in half is available.
